olivia wildeOlivia Wilde is an American actress. Born in March 10, 1984 as Olivia Jane Cockburn, she’s best known as Olivia Wilde. She adopted her “Wilde” stage name from famous Irish writer Oscar Wilde. She appeared in several television shows and movie productions including in The O.C., House, The Black Donnellys, Tron: Legacy, In Time, Cowboys & Aliens and most recently in the film Drinking Buddies.

Olivia also appeared in the films like the Alpha Dog, The Girl Next Door, Conversations with Other Women and Turistas. She became widely known for playing the character “Alex Kelly” on The O.C. She was also featured in the Dashboard Confessional’s music video “Stolen” and in the French Kicks music video, “So Far We Are”.

In 2007, Olivia was part of the cast of the short lived NBC drama series, The Black Donnellys, in which she played the role of Jenny Reilly. The series followed the daily lives of an Irish-American family that was involved in organized crime in New York City. The same year, Olivia was casted in the political thriller play, Beauty on the Vine, where she played three different characters.

In September 2007, Olivia joined the cast of the Fox medical drama series, House, where she made her debut appearance in the episode, “The Right Stuff”. She played the role of Dr. Remy Hadley, nicknamed “Thirteen”, a bisexual and secretive young internee with Huntington’s disease.

On December 2010, Olivia appeared in the Disney’s Science fiction movie, Tron: Legacy, as Quorra. In July 2011, Olivia starred in another science fiction Western movie Cowboys & Aliens, where played as Ella Swenson, alongside Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford. The same year, she played Sabrina Mckay in the comedy film The Change-Up. In August 2011, Olivia announced that she would be leaving the show House to focus on her film career. She has cited Sigourney Weaver, Meryl Streep, Catherine Keener, Frances McDormand and Robin Wright Penn to be her acting inspirations.

Olivia received the US Comedy Arts Festival Film Discovery Jury Award for Best Actress in 2006 and the Teen Choice Awards in 2008. She also received nomination for the Teen Choice Award for Choice TV Breakout Star Female for House. In 2008, Olivia was awarded the Vail Film Festival Rising Star Award.

Olivia holds dual citizenship of both the United States and Ireland. She’s a vegetarian and has been voted the Sexiest Vegetarian Celebrity of 2010 by animal rights group PETA. Olivia also sits on the board of Artists for Peace and Justice, which provides health and education services in Haiti. During the 2008 US Presidential Elections, she campaigned for President Barack Obama alongside fellow actors Justin Long and Kal Penn of House. In 2013, Olivia featured in the video for Gucci’s “Chime for Change”, campaign that focuses of raising funds and promoting awareness of women’s issues aimed at health, education and justice.

On June 2003, Olivia secretly married Italian filmmaker and musician, Tao Ruspoli, but they got divorced in September 29, 2011. Currently she’s engaged with actor Jason Sudeikis.
