Actress Charlize Theron was born in South Africa on August 7, 1975. She grew up on a farm with her parents in Benoni which is near Johannesburg and is the product of parents who are German and French.Charlize who spent her formative years in Africa had a love for dancing and she enrolled for training as a ballet dancer before she came to the US. Once she got to the US, she worked at the Joffrey Ballet in New York and also modeled as well to supplement her income. Charlize could not have predicted that her dancing career would come to an end after she injured her knee.
By the time Charlize was 18, on the prompting from her mother Charlize travelled to Los Angeles where she searched for acting gigs; her luck came eight months after arriving in Los Angeles when she starred in her first movie called “2 days in the Valley”. She also starred in “That Thing You Do” and “The Devil’s Advocate.” These movies paved the way for other big roles in films including “Mighty Joe Young” “The Cider House Rules” “The Italian Job” and “The Legend of Bagger Vance”.Charlize won her first Award; an Academy Award for her role in “Monster.”
